TPP PSD2 licensing
Open Banking services provided by Third Party Providers (TPPs) are becoming an integral part of the payments market
- Open Banking services – Payment Initiation Service (PIS) and Account Information Service (AIS) give their providers access to the infrastructure of payment account providers (ASPSP).
- The e-commerce market is currently seeing a trend of strengthening the presence of the PIS service at the expense of the previously dominant acquiring service. Also, the AIS service is increasingly used, especially as a component of other processes (identity verification, credit assessment).
- The TPP license ( particularly AIS only) offers the opportunity to provide Open Banking services without having to adapt the business to some of the regulatory requirements immanent to classic payment market licenses.
