2026-07-20 \ Komisja Europejska \ Commission outlines measures to strengthen Europe’s banking sector and support growth (przejdź do treści źródłowej)

The European Commission adopted a Communication on the competitiveness of the EU banking sector, setting out measures to strengthen the Single Market for banking. The Communication identifies key measures built around three objectives: removing barriers to cross-border banking activities and fostering market integration, implementing international standards while taking into account EU-specific characteristics and the principle of proportionality and simplifying the regulatory framework for banks as part of the Commission’s broader objective of reducing the administrative burden. The Commission will propose in the first quarter of 2027 a package of measures to amend the banking regulatory framework and deliver on this Communication.
