The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) welcomes the Commission’s initiative to revise the Cybersecurity Act and introduce amendments to the NIS 2 Directive, and supports the objectives of the package to strengthen the EU’s resilience to cyber threats, improve legal clarity and institutional coordination, simplify compliance frameworks and reduce the administrative burden on regulated entities, while preserving the competitiveness and innovation capacity of the European market. EESC also stresses that cybersecurity and ICT supply chain security must be treated as matters of economic security and geopolitical resilience, not solely as technical or regulatory challenges.
